“What Display Number?”
Contest

On April 26, 2009, Richard Nelson proposed a 1-month contest to find (and justify) the “best” number to put in an HP calculator when photographing it. The gist: What number is easy to create in a few keystrokes, has most digits (0 thru 9) in it, and is mathematically interesting? For example, the display that you see above was scanned from an HP-41 manual; it has 8 different digits in it (and the model number!), but it cannot be created with just a few keystrokes, and it’s not very mathematically “interesting”.
